Yuck. This is an ancient Nail Prisms polish. I never have been a fan of duochromes, and this one is kind of an ugly color besides. The effect is cool though, so it does deserve a bunch of pictures.

I wanted to fancy this up a bit though so I added french tips in Sally Hansen VIP Pink, and it was a fail. VIP Pink is too sheer so I had yucky buildup on the ends of my nails from so many coats of polish.

In The Navy is actually a pretty inoffensive dark polish. It is very dark, but it’s also most definitely BLUE, not BLACK. I hate dark polish that are black in most lights. This is shimmery, pretty, and of course it’s an Exxxxxtreeeeeeme Wear polish, so it applied great!
NO time to change my polish for a few days, so I tried to change it up some with a glitter topcoat – this is China Glaze Fairy Dust. Eh. As with most glitter topcoats that I’ve tried that aren’t by Sinful Colors, the glitter sits flat on top of the colored polish and looks silly.

I picked up some polishes this weekend!
- China Glaze Flying Dragon
- China Glaze Strawberry Fields
- Orly Blue Suede
- Nina Ultra Pro Leaf Me Alone
- Nina Ultra Pro In A Tiff
Still didn’t manage to hit the $25 mark for the 15% off coupon next month, but I’m kinda OK with that because I think that except for basics like files and Orly basecoat, I’m kinda done with Sally’s. I mean, the selection of polishes is so very limited, and I’ve pretty much gotten the ones I really want…I think I’ll have to get the rest of the China Glazes that I’ve been wanting online. Plus, my Sally’s never seems to have the new collections that I keep hearing about other people getting in there. Like, I STILL haven’t seen Orly Pixie Dust. Also, WTF is up with the China Glaze Matte Magic? I went in there prepared to buy it but…it’s $6 for a MINI?????????? I can stick with Matte About You, thank you!
- Pure Ice Kiss Me Here (I adore gray polishes)
- Pure Ice Cheatin (damn damn damn, this is a dupe)
- Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear In The Navy
- Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Deep Purple
From the Halloween Store:
I also got something else fabulous in the Halloween store, plus I recieved my awesome package from Sasse, coming in future posts!
I’ve got lots of plans for posts coming up, I just hope to be able to find the time to actually do them soon! My nails have been neglected lately. I’m also totally behind on organizing, I’ve got polishes everywhere, tried polishes mixed up with new ones, and none of the new ones have been catalogued. 😦

Well, Rockstar Pink is one of my beloved Xtreme Wear polishes, so of course it’s pretty darn awesome. Extremely dense pink and blue (and maaaaybe some silver, it’s hard to tell) glitter in a clear base. When layered over Zoya Moxie, it looks like a birthday party to me – very festive and happy! It’s like confetti in a bottle.

Here’s a fun little Halloween thing I did last night.
Art Deco White, Sally Hansen Sun Kissed, Sally Hansen Infinite Natural, Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow (27)

I would like to introduce you to Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow:
Looks like a pretty, shimmery green, no? Probably a bit sheer, but still an interesting color, and you know how I feel about the Xtreme Wear polishes from Sally Hansen! I’ve had Mellow Yellow for…years, I guess? I don’t remember buying it. And really I’m not sure why I ever bought it because I can tell just by looking at the bottle that it will be depressingly sheer.
…And it is, like so:
FIVE coats? That is just too many, especially for a polish that gives you this payout for all that work. I don’t like this at all, it looks dingy and dirty. The light green from the bottle becomes a yellowy color with a faint duochrome on the nail. Gross!
But wait! What’s this?
Well that’s a pretty yellow, what’s it call—
WAIT, HOW CAN THEY GIVE TWO DIFFERENT POLISHES FROM THE SAME LINE THE SAME NAME????
Mellow Yellow 27 is Mellow Yellow 39’s prettier, more modern, sloppier friend. This is much closer to the pale pastel yellow I’ve been searching for, but still not there yet. However, it doesn’t burn my eyes or make me think of school buses, so I like it. Streaky and hard to apply though, as is to be expected from a yellow.
The name thing really does bug me though, how unimaginative is that??? They could have called the green one…Honeydew! Or, heck…Sprite!

I am so excited to finally try marbling!
I used China Glaze Secret Peri-Wink-Le for the base, and Barielle Expressive and Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow (#27) for the marbling.
I like it! The purple color didn’t really show up at all though. I noticed while practicing a bit that some polishes (like the Barielles) seem to sort of instantly pretty much dissolve in the water, and others, like the Sally Hansens, stay formed into a little droplet on the surface of the water until I break it up and spread it out. Odd.

Well this is my first foray into nail jewels. I’ve had some sitting around for forever and just never did anything with them before.
So…I stuck them on while my Seche Vite was still tacky, then covered it with another layer of Seche. Which…is that how it should be done? On my thumbs the Seche is sort of pooling around the rhinestones and it looks silly. Actually my thumbs look silly anyway, there’s way too much going on.
I suppose I shouldn’t hide my nail mistakes, posting them will help me grow! Or something. It will give me photographic evidence of what NOT to do, at least.
The verdict per me: thumbs = bad, other fingers = acceptable.

Ice Coffee is a winner! Stupid name, yes, both for the grammatical…weirdness, and also because coffee should never be red, but I really like the color. How to describe it, though? Dusty reddish mauve? Muted frosty red? Once again, I love these Xtreme Wear polishes!
