It is crazy and ridiculous even to me, that I can stand in front of my ~200 polish collection and think “I have nothing to wear!” but it’s true. I’m bored with everything I have. I haven’t even worn most of them still but…yeah, I have nothing to wear.
I’ve got my Zoya free green polishes coming in…tomorrow, I think? so maybe that’ll give me something exciting to use for a few days. And I *still* need to hunt around for the Wizard of Oz collection…it seemed to be selling out when I looked last week though, I wonder if I’ll have problems finding it. And I’ve been wanting to make an order at Dollar Nail Art, because OMG, what a concept! AND, I’ve been thinking about Nfu.Ohs also lately…hmmm…I wonder where one can buy them, I don’t really think I’ve ever heard. Oh, and I need to make a new Diamond order…sigh. The fun part is the shopping, I think!!!!
Just now I finally broke down and applied a polish I’ve already previously featured on this blog, China Glaze 2Nite.
Does everyone have this problem of streakiness and seperation with holos? I only have two holos, but MAN they are horrible to apply. This is one coat, and I think it will take three to finish.
It is…lumpy! It’s almost like oily…stuff…is seperating from the polish on my nail, and God forbid that I try to go back over a wet nail with the brush to fix a smudge or lump – then it even rubs off the dry bottom layer! It is so weird and terrible, this seems like the type of polish that should glide on extremely thinly, but it is NOT. Is this just a trait of holos, or what?

Love. This, my second holographic polish, just feeds my need to immediately buy every holo I can find. It’s gorgeous, I can’t stop wiggling my fingers in the light. The base color is very very pretty also – I think I might try to franken a non-holo version soon.

I like this polish. I just don’t love it like I was expecting to. I was picturing this as a green version of the fantastically awesome Ruby Pumps. And again…it is, but…somehow it’s not as amazing. Part of my problem may be that I used 3 coats, which I think darkened it up more than I’d have preferred. Next time I’ll try two, more careful coats.
Oh, AND ANOTHER THING: All of the Wizard of Ooh-Ahhs polishes were basically just like this in different colors, right? That’s my understanding since Ruby Pumps was the lone survivor of the old collection. Well, I always wondered why in the world this wasn’t included and called Emerald City. Everytime I type Emerald Sparkle, it feels wrong.

Haul posts are pretty boring I know, but I enjoy them anyway. When I get a bright shiny new pile of polish I can’t very well wear them all at once, but I have to do SOMETHING with them!! So I take pictures and post them on the internet. 😀
Orly Pixie Dust – I’ve been wanting this forrrrrrever! My Sally’s never had it.
China Glaze Emerald Dream – I was desperate to not miss this one, it’s limited edition, right?
China Glaze 2Nite – I adore holos!
Orly Smudge Fixer – I intend to try it for some gradients soon.
The charm on the Orly is pretty cute I guess:

Ravishing, Dahling is easily in my top 5 favorite polishes. I love to say the name! AND I LOVE JELLIES! I don’t even know why, maybe just because they’re kind of rare? By the way, why are jellies unusual? Because they take a zillion coats and most people (except bloggers/polish obsessors) don’t like the sheerness maybe? Also, why do all jellies seem to be red? I already have a red! Anyway, this is the one sad lonely jelly in my collection. I think it’s also the only polish I’ve worn more than once since I started buying polish like crazy and started this blog – this is the THIRD TIME I’ve worn it since then!!!! It’s been featured a couple of times on this blog before – I used it for my half-moon manicure.
I’m terribly worried about taking it off though. I’m convinced that most of my nail staining is from this particular polish – last time I wore it my nails were NOTICEABLY yellower upon removing it, even with my super careful application of two coats of basecoat!
Hey I just had a thought. All the nail bloggers seem to complain that their nails get yellow even though they religiously use basecoat, right? And I’d say most bloggers use Seche. And you know how Seche claims that their topcoat does some sort of bonding thing all the way through all the polish layers? I wonder how much truth there is to that – maybe the Seche is zapping through our basecoats and yellowing our nails?
OK, back on topic. I love jellies, I love Ravishing, Dahling, here have some pictures!

This morning I was sitting at the breakfast table thinking about the manicures I’ve been wanting to do that I haven’t had time to do lately (a Lubu manicure, for one). Then I started admiring how long my nails had gotten, and I decided to file them down some, because really it’s just tempting breakages when they’re that long, plus I just like the look of them better when they’re a tad bit shorter. Anyway, so there I was halfway through when I realized, YOU DON’T SHORTEN YOUR NAILS UNTIL AFTER THE LUBU MANICURE, DUMMY.
So here it is! This was actually kind of interesting. I did the red under-tips first, using a tiny little flattened square nail art brush, and it went on fairly painlessly and pretty neatly. I think I got to three coats before deciding I’d achieved the opacity that I had in mind. As I always am, I was startled by how beautiful Ruby Pumps is – it really is probably one of my favorite polishes ever. Man, that shimmer!!!!
Then, the Lubu Heels. I sit under a lamp to do my nails, so I was directly under a light source, and the red glitter was sparkling like crazy. And I considered rethinking my opinion that this polish sucks – until I walked across the room out of direct light and my nails just looked black again. 😦 I think that for me, Lubu Heels is nice in theory but not so great in actuality. Vampy black polish with secret red shimmer/glitter!!! That sounds awesome!!! But, the glitter just isn’t noticeable enough for me. If I want a black polish, I will wear black polish!
When I was all done, I needed a little something extra. It just wasn’t awesome enough yet. So, I painted the edges of my nail tips with Ruby Pumps, and I think that kicked it up a notch, at least from 5 inches away!!
I think that I really did need longer nails for this. with there not being too much nail to paint the underside of, I went down as far as I could, which, as I found out when I tried to remove it, was a total mistake. I’m left with little lines of red polish deep under my nails that I just can’t seem to get out.

In The Navy is actually a pretty inoffensive dark polish. It is very dark, but it’s also most definitely BLUE, not BLACK. I hate dark polish that are black in most lights. This is shimmery, pretty, and of course it’s an Exxxxxtreeeeeeme Wear polish, so it applied great!
NO time to change my polish for a few days, so I tried to change it up some with a glitter topcoat – this is China Glaze Fairy Dust. Eh. As with most glitter topcoats that I’ve tried that aren’t by Sinful Colors, the glitter sits flat on top of the colored polish and looks silly.

I love China Glaze shimmers!!!! So much!! As I said about Grape Juice, which is from the same collection, if they would agree to make these in every color, I would buy them! This is so loaded with gold shimmer, and I like that it’s a darker pink instead of a light one.
In other nail news, I’m so happy with the patch on my index finger!! I think I’ve just gotten used to using them better, because this one has been staying on for 1-2 weeks with no problems, and hasn’t been giving me any issues at all.just might be able to save this nail!!!

And now for the zillionth tiffany blue polish comparison currently on the internet!
Here we have the regulars: Nina Ultra Pro In A Tiff, China Glaze For Audrey, and Diamond Cosmetics Oh, Tiff!
For Audrey provided the best coverage, of course (China Glaze yay!), with Oh, Tiff! providing the worst.
In A Tiff – 3 coats, a hint of shimmer
For Audrey – 3 coats, could’ve easily stopped at 2, creme
Oh, Tiff! – 4 coats for complete opacity, creme
This is more color accurate than the picture above:

I found this sitting on a random shelf in Spirit Of Halloween, one of those Halloween costume stores that takes over vacant buildings during the season. It was the only one I saw and I snapped it up!
From the tag on the stem, I suspect that there are maybe more colors available, but I was in two different Spirit Of Halloween stores yesterday and I couldn’t find any others there or online at spirithalloween.com.
Editing my post to say that I did some more searching around online and these seem to be part of the Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers collection, and they seem to be available at Walgreen’s also. I’ve only heard of two colors – Red Rose and Black Rose. Weird how they’re not labeled on the bottle and how I couldn’t find evidence of any other than the one I bought in the Halloween store!!
This is worth buying just for the pretty pretty bottle, but the color and polish itself are both very nice also. It’s a bright, true red with lots of gold shimmer.
While I was applying this, I thought that it would be pretty close to Ruby Pumps, but once I compared the two (below), they are completely, totally different. I also realized that my camera doesn’t like taking pictures of reds.
Rose on top, Ruby Pumps on the bottom!
And, here are some more pictures of the gorgeous bottle!! I love this!
